Dear Parents,
Welcome back!
We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and we wish you a happy New Year.
This term our themes are, ‘Home, Sweet Home’ and ‘Green Fingers’ and an overview
of learning can be seen by clicking on the Curriculum tab at the top of this
page.
During this term we will continue to send home spellings for the children to
learn. We will be looking to see how the children use correct spellings in their
writing. We will also be providing mathematics homework which will alternate
with the reading homework. Your support with these tasks is invaluable and very
much appreciated.
We also look forward to the exciting return of Circus Skills week in the second
half of term. More details will follow nearer the time.
Year 1 P.E. days Our PE days will continue to be on a Monday and Tuesday for all
classes.
Please could we remind you to ensure that your child’s P.E. kit is in school at
all times. Also please remember that for health and safety reasons hair should
be tied back and earrings are removed on those days.
Year 1 Library days Monday - 1R Tuesday - 1M Thursday - 1TB
As part of Design and Technology lessons this term, the children will be working
in groups collaboratively to produce a room for a ‘Dolls House’. Please could
you help by starting to save small boxes such as oxo, toothpaste and mini cereal
boxes.
In April, Year One’s school trip will be a visit to Staunton Park to support
many areas of our curriculum work. We would like to draw your attention to the
potential cost of around £9 mainly due to the cost of hiring the coach.
On a similar note, a whole school trip to Marwell Zoo is being planned for June
and the likely cost will be around £12.
Later on in the second half of term, we look forward to inviting you to watch
your child and their class sing a variety of songs to you. Details will follow
later!
Thank you for your continued support and help,
Miss Morris, Mrs Ray, Mrs Taylor and Mrs Brown
