Welcome back!
We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year!
This is the start of a very busy term for children and teachers and we hope
everyone is feeling refreshed and energetic!!
Just a few reminders…
Our library days will stay the same… 2C Monday 2S Tuesday 2G Thursday
Could children please ensure that they have their P.E. kit at school throughout
the week? Please don’t forget to name any new items and check that existing
items are still clearly labelled. It may also be worth checking that plimsolls
fit!
The end of Key Stage One Tests and Assessments will take place during April and
May, therefore please try to avoid any holidays during this time as they will
have to be recorded as unapproved absences. During the whole of this term, the
children will be working very hard so every day will be important to them. Look
out for a special Year 2 Assessment meeting later in the term to answer any of
your queries. There will be a SATs information meeting for parents on Monday,
12th March, at 2:30pm. Details will follow nearer the time!
Homework
We have had a really good response to the homework tasks set during the autumn
term. It is noticeable that children who regularly carry out homework tasks are
transferring their knowledge to their class work. Thank you for all your hard
work and commitment. We will continue to set homework and send spellings home
during the spring term.
Curriculum Coverage
Here is a flavour of work being covered this term;
Literacy – poetry, information texts, alphabetical order, writing explanations
and drama. Can you use a dictionary at home whenever possible? Collect any great
words when you are reading at home to use in your story writing. Retelling a
story and acting it out – all helps!

units, number facts, understanding shape, data handling and measures,
relationships between numbers and learning tables (especially 2’s,5’s and 10’s).
