Who we are:

We are a registered charity whose purpose is to raise funds and organise events to help provide extra equipment and facilities to the children at the school. We also provide funding and support for special activities within the school, such as Arts week.

The FSIS is overseen by a committee consisting of Five elected officers - Chair, Vice-Chair, Communication Secretary, Publicity & Marketing Secretary and Treasurer. All parents, guardians and extended family members of children in the school are automatically members of the FSIS and any member can join the committee or attend meetings at any time.

      Chair: Lisa Felstead
I'm Lisa - a Mum of three, my daughters both attend Solent Infants and are in Year 2, and I have a three year old son. I am currently completing a PhD which will hopefully lead to a career change into the education sector, and I also continue to work part time in the Accountancy field. I was inspired to join the committee by how hard the FSIS work to lay on fabulous events for the children at the school, when my daughters were in reception, and was the Vice Chair in last year's committee - which I thoroughly enjoyed. I look forward to all the exciting events planned for this academic year and, meeting lots of new people.
Vice Chair: Claire Hooper
I’m Claire, I have three daughters, two who attend Solent infant school and are in years 1 and 2, and my youngest daughter is two years old. I’m currently on a career break from college lecturing, and providing CPD in Physical Education to key stage 1 and 2 teachers. I have helped the FSIS team over the past year in various events, and in doing so I have met lots of lovely people.
      Vice Chair : Polly Lodge
Hi, I'm Polly. I'm mum to two children, my daughter who is in year one, and my son who is three years old. After working in a busy secondary school before having children, I knew that once my daughter started school, being part of Solent was something I would enjoy so I started helping with the FSIS when she was in reception, I really enjoyed being part of it, especially as everyone was super friendly! I'm looking forward to my new role in the committee and to continue supporting the school and the children, who all work incredibly hard at making the events and occasions just as fantastic and memorable as they have been in previous years.
Treasurer : Izzy Cordery
I’m Izzy. I have a son who’s just started in Reception and two step daughters, one who’s studying for A Levels and one in secondary school. I’m a Chartered Accountant and work as a School Business Manager for a Primary school in Fareham. I’m looking forward to working for FSIS for the benefit of all the children at the school and making lots of new friends along the way!
      Communication Secretary : Janet Tutton
Hi, I’m Janet, Mum to a daughter who is in year 2. I work for Global Media as an Account Director in a busy sales team which whilst pressured is great fun and keeps me challenged balancing a full-time job in part time hours! Love nights in, nights out with family and friends and more than happy for those to be joined by a glass of wine or two! I have a passion for animals, travel and photography and being buried in a good book (when time allows). Very sociable, with a “can do will do” attitude, I’m up for most things so do say hi or stop for a chat if you see me around. Having been involved with FSIS events since Reception I’m looking forward to continuing the great work for the school and children as part of the committee team this year.
Publicity and Marketing : Kate Lewis
I'm Kate and I'm finding it really rewarding to work with the whole school community to ensure that the children have a really positive early learning experience while they're at Solent Infants. The events that the FSIS organise are wonderful, enriching opportunities to bring together that community, and I am excited to be involved. While my son is enjoying his time in Reception, I'm very happy to listen to other parents ideas and suggestions, and it's a great way to make new friends.

The committee meets on the first Friday of each month at 1.30pm in the Lighthouse Room at the school. All our meetings are informal and we would love for you to come along and get involved - we are particularly keen to hear new ideas for fundraising activities, and experiences we could support for the children in the school. As well as our monthly committee meetings, we also hold event planning meetings throughout the year - details of these can be found on our face book page, on our current posters, or we can send you details via email if you contact us using the tab at the top of the page.

What do we do:

We hold many fundraising events throughout the year, including a Christmas, Easter and Summer Fayre, Quiz Nights and a 'Easter Egg' and 'Advent' drawing competition which are sponsored by Northwood Estate Agents, who also give us generous raffle donations throughout the year. We also sell uniforms and jute bags to raise money for the school. Over the years we have purchased many items for the school to enhance our children's learning environment - these include the sunshade, rainbow benches, wicker huts and Reception playhouse and our largest donation was towards the fantastic Adventure Playground.

How you can help:

There are a variety ways you can help, by coming along to our meetings and joining a working party, manning stalls at the fayres or simply by using the website links listed below:-
