Looking Ahead
Please could we remind you that the months of April and May 2019 are a very important time for your child. They will be undertaking end of Key Stage 1 tests and tasks (currently known as SATS). Every month of Year 2 is important for your child, but none more so than April and May, so please ensure your child is in school at this time. Thank you.

We hope that your child will enjoy their time in Year 2. One of our priorities is to develop the children’s independence and attitude towards work. So therefore, the children will be working at a faster pace and be expected to use their initiative. Thank you to those who attended the Year 2 parent expectation meeting this week. If you were not able to attend please look on our website to view the information powerpoint for your child’s class.

Homework and Spellings
Homework is stuck in their homework books on a Friday and it needs to be completed by the following Friday please. The focus varies between Maths, Literacy and theme work. From this week spellings will also be given out on a Friday with a test the following Friday. Please practise writing the words with your child.

And finally…
• Please, please, please could you label everything that your child brings to school. It is almost impossible to tell one jumper from another! • Don’t forget – homework will be given on a Friday. This may take the form of Numeracy, Literacy or theme based work.
• A reading book will be sent home each week on the day your child reads with their teacher. Please ensure your child’s reading book and home/school link book is in their bag every day. Please feel free to comment in the book so that we are aware of the child’s reading experiences at home.

Thank you for your continuing support,

Best Wishes,

Mrs Summers Mrs Pinhorne and Mrs Curthoys Mrs Cryer
